Private Piano Lessons for Middle and High School Students |

Puget Sounds Piano Studio Instructors strive to find a balance for our Middle and High School students between providing real-world musical skills and allowing them to find their own place in the musical world. We try to be flexible, and encourage students to pursue their musical passion. Many play classical music to a greater or lesser degree. Some study jazz improvisation. Many enjoy learning popular music. Some study composition. All students continue to work on theory, technique, listening skills, interpretive skills, and ear training. Students have the opportunity to showcase their skills throughout the year in masterclasses, recitals, MTNA Adjudications, and with some, competitions and festivals.
Playing with others is constantly encouraged. With the help of Puget Sounds’ instructors, students set up their own ensembles, chose their own music, and perform in the community. Some even find their own venues! It is an exciting time for students as they transition between studies that are instructor-directed to studies that are student-directed.
We can also prepare piano students that know they want to pursue music in college. Whether they desire to study Classical Piano, Jazz Piano, Popular Music or Music Education, we can help pre-college students be ready for their extended studies. |
