Adult students generally have ideas about what they want to study. Here at Puget Sounds, we recognize that and strive to structure your lessons around where you are currently, and where you want to go.
Puget Sounds Piano Studio’s diverse faculty can help you with classical and popular repertoire, jazz and blues improvisation, theory, technique, and more. Interested in ensemble playing? We can help you set up and rehearse a Gershwin duet with another pianist, a Mozart duet with a violinist, or a Bill Evans cover with a bassist and drummer. The sky is the limit.
The most frequent question we are asked by beginning adult students is “Is it too late for me to study piano?” Of course not! Beginning adult piano students have many advantages over beginning children, such as:
- excellent cognitive skills, which makes understanding concepts much easier
- good discipline and time management skills when structuring practicing
- more advanced self-awareness, which allows for self-analysis within the home practice sessions
- a genuine and developed love of music, the instrument, and playing
